SPARKLIGHT MOVIE NIGHT IN MERIDIAN OPENS NEW SEASON MAY 31

MERIDIAN – Meridian Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce the 2024 season of Sparklight Movie Night, a series of free family-friendly movies to be held every other Friday night in Settlers Park beginning Friday, May 31. This year’s movie dates are May 31, June 14 and 28; July 12 and 26; and August 9. Settlers Park is located at 3245 N. Meridian Road at the corner of Ustick and Meridian Roads.

The movies, which begin at dusk, will be projected onto a 30-foot inflatable screen in a roped off seating area within the park. Blankets and low-backed chairs are encouraged for front row seating, but regular chairs are permitted on the sides and rear seating areas. Concession foods will be available for purchase on-site or attendees may bring their own movie snacks.

Families are invited to come early and enjoy a variety of activities presented by rotating nightly sponsors before the movie. Settlers Park also features built-in activities to encourage play and physical activity including the universally-accessible Adventure Island Playground, a new splash pad, a climbing rock, fishing pond, cornhole courts and sound garden.

No one under the age of 18 will be permitted to attend the Friday night movies unless accompanied by a parent or responsible guardian present with them for the duration of the event. All areas of Settlers Park outside the fenced event area will close at sunset and all unaccompanied minors will be directed to exit the park.

Sparklight Movie Night’s season sponsors are College of Western Idaho and CBH Homes.

On the alternating Fridays, when a movie is not showing, the Bri Kleiner Park Live summer concert series will present free 7:00 pm concerts featuring popular local bands at the bandshell in Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park. These concert dates are June 7 and 21; July 5 and 19; and August 2 and 16. Bri and Brighton are the sponsors of the concert series.

“Our alternating Friday night free entertainment schedule was a smashing success last summer,” says Recreation Coordinator Renee White. “By continuing to alternate our outdoor movie nights with live music, we can offer something fun that is more interesting to all age groups.”
